It all started when I decided to major in Sound at ESCAC in Barcelona, where I made great friends who have gone on to become award wining professionals.
During the final year of the course I went to Singapore with four mates to do our final project, Pura, a no-music, no-narration experimental documentary which won a few prizes here and there.
After finishing my studies in 1999 I started working in Spain recoding, booming and doing sound post.
A few years on in 2002, an opportunity came up to return to Singapore to teach sound recording and editing at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. It was there where I met my future wife, the main reason for me moving to Australia and eventually becoming an Australian citizen.
In short, what happened next is that we went back to Barcelona, did some work there, came back to Sydney, did some work here, went back to Barcelona, did some more work there and then we came back to Sydney where we stopped for 4 or so years.
At the start of 2011 we moved down to Melbourne from Sydney and as far as I can predict we are not moving anywhere further.
Aside from flitting between Spain and Australia, during the past 10 years I’ve also taken up opportunities to work on productions in other countries, namely Namibia, South Africa, France, Hungary and Singapore. Working with such a broad range of people in hugely varying locations and conditions has enabled me to pick up a lot of extra
knowledge and tricks along the way.
So, in summary, I’ve worked consistently in Sound for over a decade now. If you’d like to know more details, productions and dates, please download my CV by right clicking on the link below. Watch some trailers promos and videos of different jobs here ☟ Download my current CV here Manel Lopez CV
